Family Turkey Project

On Monday, your child brought home the information about the Family Turkey Project.
Help this Turkey make it safely past Thanksgiving this year by disguising him as a part of your family. Please have fun and be creative! You may use any medium you would like to decorate the turkey. In addition, have your child plan and write a creative story about their turkey on the attached paper. Most importantly, HAVE FUN!
Please return the turkey and story to school by MONDAY, NOVEMBER 16TH, so your child can share their turkey and story with the class.

I can't wait to see the turkeys and hear the stories!

Who knew learning about Weathering, Erosion, and Deposition could be so much fun!

Today we played the weathering, erosion, and deposition game! Each team had to weather away a piece of their unit cube landform, crab walk (erode it) to the other end of the classroom, and deposit it on the carpet. It really showed how weathering away of rock makes it smaller and smaller, and erosion is when the sediment is moved from one place to another, and deposition is when the sediment is dropped off in a new location.

Can You Prevent or Slow Down Weathering & Erosion?

Today Team Explore conducted a weathering and erosion experiment. We had three water bottles cut in half filled with grass, leaves, and dirt. Mrs. Buhrow sprayed the three water bottles with water and we observed the run off from each bottle. We discussed what the bottles looked like before and what they looked like after. We then talked about how erosion and weathering connect to this experiment.
